CostCrossover is a free set of educational planning tools. Using the site means you're comfortable with the practical points below.

What these tools are

Our calculators compare the cost of two ordinary choices over time so you can see roughly when one becomes more expensive than the other. They're planning aids meant to make a decision clearer — not a valuation, an appraisal, or a professional financial model.

Results depend on your inputs

Every number you see comes from the assumptions you entered — rent, fees, inflation rates, replacement costs, and how long you expect to store things. Change an assumption and the answer changes. Real-world prices, rent increases, and resale values will differ from any projection, so treat results as estimates and try a few scenarios.

Not financial, legal, or tax advice

Nothing on this site is financial, legal, tax, or insurance advice, and using it doesn't create a professional relationship. For advice about your specific circumstances, talk to a qualified professional.

No guarantee of savings or outcomes

We can't promise that following a result will save you money, that an item will sell for a particular amount, or that a third-party service will perform as you hope. The site is provided as-is, and we're not liable for decisions made using it.

Third-party services

Marketplaces, consignment services, auction companies, donation organizations, and removal companies we mention are independent businesses with their own terms, privacy policies, fees, and service areas. We aren't responsible for their conduct, and you should confirm their current terms directly. See our affiliate disclosure for how links are handled.

Your decisions are yours

You know your situation, your timeline, and what your belongings mean to you. Sentimental value is real and our tools don't try to price it. The final call is always yours.

Email you asked for

If you save a result, we email that result and — where a break-even date applies — one reminder. No newsletter. You can cancel the reminder from the link in the email. Details are in the privacy policy.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the tools evolve; the effective date above will change with them. Questions? Use the contact form.
